Honest security guard in Cotabato returns bag containing 150k cash

Honest security guard Ricardo Caluna of Aleosan, Cotabato, is earning praise from netizens after returning a lost bag containing over PHP150,000 in cash.

The 53-year-old security personnel was on duty when he found a backpack containing a large sum of money and important documents in the Aleosan Public Market in Cotabato City.

Without any hesitation, Caluna immediately reported the recovered backpack to the Aleosan Municipal Police Station which reported the good deed on May 19, 2021.

The lost bag was later returned to its owner, Police Master Sergeant (PMSg) Rex Val Regular of Libungan Municipal Station, who said the money was for his business.

The owner expressed his sincere gratitude and attempted to give a cash reward to Caluna, who declined the offer.

Caluna said that the thought of pocketing the money never occurred to him and that he was just doing his job.

“Walang anuman yun sir! hindi naman sa akin ang pera, nakatingin ang Dios sa atin, Siya na lang ang magbibigay sa akin ng gantimpala pagdating ng panahon,” Caluna said.

Netizens praised the security guard on social media for his good deed, calling him an inspiration to many during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic.
