The Intramuros Administration today reopened two of its most popular tourist spots, Fort Santiago and Baluarte de San Diego, following the downgrading of Metro Manila to the level of General Community Quarantine with heightened restrictions.

The historic attractions inside the Walled City of Manila, winner of the 2020 World Travel Awards for Leading Tourist Attraction and Asia’s leading tourist attraction, are opening doors on May 17, 2021, after almost two months of suspension following quarantine restrictions.

The Department of Tourism shared about the reopening, encouraging visitors to “Safely explore fascinating historical sites by following the strict health and safety protocols implemented”.

In compliance with the government’s 30 percent capacity limit, Fort Santiago is accommodating up to 200 visitors at a time while Baluarte de San Diego can accommodate up to 100 people.

Fort Santiago, the Spanish colonial period defense fortress where the national hero Jose Rizal was incarcerated, will operate daily from 9 am until 7:30 pm.

The Baluarte de San Diego, a Spanish bastion on the southwestern corner of Intramuros, is open daily from 8 am until 5 pm.

Only visitors aged 18 to 65 years old are allowed inside the sites.
