Filipino sprinter Kristina Knott captures 2 silver medals in Italy

Filipino sprinter Kristina Marie Knott continues to strengthen her bid for a spot in the Tokyo Olympics, winning two silver medals for the Philippines in the International Athletic Meeting of the City of Castiglione della Pescaia held in Italy.

Knott took two silvers in the women’s 100-meter and 200-meter races on May 19, 2021, finishing just behind Rio Olympics veteran Marie-JosĂ©e Ta Lou of the Ivory Coast.

The 25-year-old Filipino-American athlete clocked in a time of 11.30 seconds during the 100-meter finals and registered 23.19 seconds in the 200-meter dash.

Kristina Knott currently holds the Philippines’ national record for both the 100 meters and the 200 meters sprints.

She will next compete in the Jacksonville World Athletics Continental Tour Silver level event when she returns to the United States.

The Philippines’ Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) gold medalist also recently won a bronze at the Louisiana State University (LSU) Alumni Gold Meet while clocking in close to the Tokyo Olympics qualifying times.

Knott earlier bagged silver medals in the Pure Athletics Spring Invitational in Clermont, Florida, and the 93rd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
