Laguna agri-advocates set up Community Plant-ry to help feed people

Anahaw Laguna wants to teach people to grow edible plants in their own homes.

Laguna agriculture advocate group Anahaw Laguna is taking the Maginhawa Community Pantry idea a step further and is setting up a Community Plant-ry to help teach people to eat the plants they themselves grow.

The Anahaw Laguna Community Plant-ry carries the slogan, “Kumuha base sa kayang itanim, Magbigay para itanim ng iba (Take what you can plant. Share what others can sow).” and will have seeds and seedlings of fruits and vegetables available for anyone who wishes to grow edible plants in their own backyard.

The plant-ry will also have agriculture advocates available onsite to share information and technical assistance on how to start a backyard edible garden.

The group says its plant-ry is a support to the community pantry movement that has been spreading around the Philippines, started by Maginhawa Community Pantry’s Ana Patricia Non in Quezon City, and has even inspired the Timorese Community Pantry.

The Anahaw Laguna Plant-ry will start at 9 AM on Saturday, April 24, 2021, located at the Main gate, Villa Olympia 1, Brgy. Maharlika, San Pedro, Laguna.

For inquiries on how to participate in the plant-ry message the Anahaw Laguna Facebook group or e-mail anahaw.laguna@gmail.com.

SEND WELL WISHES in the comments below to the agri-advocates of Anahaw Laguna for setting up its Community Plant-ry to help feed people with the plants they grow themselves.
